Dental Coverage and Plans
Dental care is a covered service for eligible Medicaid members who are pregnant, disabled, blind, age 65 or older, eligible for Targeted Adult Medicaid and are receiving treatment in a Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, or qualify for Early Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT). Medicaid has two dental plans. Both dental plans provide the same services. The plans may have different dentists. You must go to a dentist that takes your plan. You must choose a dental plan or one will be assigned. Call your plan or go to their website to find a dentist in your area. The Medicaid dental plans are below:

If you do not have access to transportation, you may qualify for non-emergency medical transportation to your dental visits. For information regarding non-emergency transportation, contact a Department of Workforce Services eligibility worker at 1-866-435-7414.

Individuals eligible for the Aged Medicaid program (aged 65 and older) will be eligible to receive dental services on March 1, 2020. All dental services will be provided by the University of Utah School of Dentistry or its contracted dental providers. Medicaid members who are not eligible for dental coverage can use the Family Dental Plan (FDP). FDP provides dental services for adult Medicaid members who do not have dental coverage. The services are the same as Medicaid services. The patient must pay for services at the same rate Medicaid pays. Payment must be made at the time of service by cash or check with proper identification.
