Dental Coverage and Plans

Dental care is a covered service for eligible Medicaid members who are pregnant, disabled, blind or qualify for Child Health Evaluation and Care (CHEC).  Learn more about dental benefits here.

Dental coverage is provided through Utah Medicaid’s Fee for Service Network or a dental plan.

If you need assistance finding a dentist, please call a Medicaid Health Program Representative (HPR) at 1-866-608-9422.

Fee for Service Network:

Members living in counties other than Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah will receive dental services through the Fee for Service Network (any dental provider that accepts Medicaid).  Non-pregnant adults who live in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake or Utah County will receive dental services through the Fee for Service Network.

If using the Find a Dentist tool above, select “UT MEDICAID Not Managed Care” in the benefit plan drop down menu.  Members who are blind or disabled and live in the Salt Lake Valley may also choose to receive dental care at the University of Utah School of Dentistry.

Dental Plans:

Members who are pregnant or qualify for CHEC and live in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties will receive services through a dental plan.  A dental plan is a group of dentists you must use for your dental care. If eligible members do not choose a dental plan, one will be assigned for them.  You will need to stay with the dental plan you choose or that is assigned to you until the next annual open enrollment, mid-May to mid-June for a July 1st start date.

The Medicaid dental plans are Delta Dental and Premier Access. Both dental plans offer and pay for the same services. The plans may have different dentists to see for dental care.  You must see a dentist that accepts your dental plan.  Call your dental plan or go to their website to find a dentist in your area.
