This Hospital Quality Dashboard lets people (the users) see how well health places (facilities) in Utah are doing.  The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) looks at several different ways to measure their quality—things like how safe they are and how good their care is.  The report also shows how that performance changes over time. This way, DHHS can see if facilities are getting better or if they need to improve.

This dashboard currently shows the scores for a very important check called the Plan All-Cause Readmissions (PCR) measure for hospitals in Utah. This measure looks at how often patients ages 18-64 must return to the hospital shortly after they leave.  For additional information on the key parts of the PCR measure score, refer to the Hospital Quality Measure dashboard FAQ.

On the left side of the dashboard, you will find buttons or menus called filters. You can use these filters to choose and sort the information you see:

  • Change the time period (reporting periods) or metric.
  • Highlight different hospitals (facilities).
  • Filter by hospital attributes (things like the size or type of hospital).

Note: If you see a hospital result listed as "Suppressed", it means Utah cannot show the score. The number of stays was either too small or the data did not meet DHHS rules for reporting (data suppression requirements).  When this happens, the result is hidden to make sure DHHS is only showing reliable information.

Disclaimer: Please note that there may be variability in measure results with the health plans due to methodological differences in how the DHHS and the plans pull their data. The DHHS data relies solely on claims data.
